🔥 Wildland Fire Workflow
Running a Fire with FieldOps
Five steps from "we got smoke" to "mutual aid is on the map." Walks through incident command setup, property owner identification, sharing with incoming crews, and drone operations. Assumes you've done the common steps — if not, do those first.
Before You Start
You should already know how to sign in, create an operation, and drop pins. If any of that is new, run through the Common Steps first — this walkthrough builds on them.
The Five Steps
Step 01 · ~2 min
Setup & Pin Types
Create the operation, enable the right pin categories, set up the map the way fire crews actually use it.
Step 02 · ~5 min
IC Structure
Drop Command Post, Staging, and Division pins. Build the ICS structure on the map so everyone sees where everyone is.
Step 03 · ~3 min
Parcel Overlay
Turn on parcel boundaries. Identify property owners near the fire line so you can make notifications.
Step 04 · ~2 min
Mutual Aid
Share viewer access with incoming crews. Everyone sees the same map without giving up operational control.
Step 05 · ~4 min
Drone Operations
Drop drone operation pins, mark launch points, and coordinate with ground crews so nobody flies into anybody.
What You'll End Up With
By the end of this walkthrough, you'll have a live fire operation with IC structure mapped out, property owners identified along the fire line, mutual aid crews plugged in on read-only access, and drone operations integrated with the ground game. Everything everyone needs to see is on one map, updating live.
