Search
Find anywhere on the map three different ways. Type an address, paste GPS coordinates, or enter a What3Words code. Search handles all three without you having to think about which is which.
The Three Search Modes
Address
Type a street address, intersection, city, landmark, or place name. "2048 Settlers Valley Way", "Main St & 3rd", "Lost City WV", "Cacapon State Park" all work. Uses OpenStreetMap's geocoder under the hood.
GPS Coordinates
Paste decimal coordinates โ 39.13369, -78.50015. Works with or without the comma. Accepts degrees-minutes-seconds format too, but decimal is cleaner.
What3Words
Enter the three-word code like afterglow.touched.fading. Every 3m ร 3m square on the planet has a unique code โ easier to read over radio than coordinates, and accurate enough for rescue work.
You don't have to tell FieldOps which mode you're using. If it sees dots between three words, it searches What3Words. If it sees numbers with a comma, it searches coordinates. Otherwise it searches addresses. The mode switcher is only there when you want to force a specific mode.
After a Search
Tap a result to jump the map to that spot. The map centers and zooms in. From there:
- Long-press to drop a pin at that exact location
- Tap Navigate to open turn-by-turn directions in your phone's map app
- Tap Drop Pin to use the form if you want to name/categorize the pin properly
Recent Searches
Your last 10 searches are saved per operation. Pull them up from the Recents tab in the search panel โ useful when you're cycling between a few key locations (command post, staging, incident address).
